An introduction to WUFI® from the creator himself, Prof. Dr. Hartwig Künzel

Join the WUFI® creator Prof. Dr. Hartwig Künzel from Fraunhofer Institute in Germany and learn about WUFI®. What is it? What can it do? Why do we need WUFI® in Australia?

Description

BCA 2019 has new Condensation and Water Vapour Management requirements. This requires the risks associated with water vapour and condensation to be managed, and to minimise its impact on occupants, such as mould and structural integrity. Moisture management starts at the design phase with proper material selection. A new verification pathway allows for modelling that assesses the outdoor weather conditions, indoor conditions and material selection. WUFI® is the ideal tool for this.

Thermal analysis is useful for estimating the heat loss through a wall, roof or other building element. But that’s only part of the story. We also need to know what will happen to moisture. If moisture is likely to accumulate within our building structure, we’re going to have a problem.  Hygrothermal analysis takes out the guess work. It allows us to predict the transfer of both heat and moisture through, and within complicated building elements.
